I GOT A JOB!!!

I thought i would share with everyone that i start an assignment tomorrow! I have been without a job for almost two months now, you don't know how happy i am! I have been getting pretty stressed out about not having a job, i feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

It's a temporary position with a huge home builder in the city, hopefully they fall in love with me and just decide to keep me =)

I probably will be lacking in posts until i get settled but hopefully i can keep up with reading and staying current with everyone i follow!

New items!

Hi everyone,

These past few days I have been working on a few new items that will be available for purchase. Thought i would give you all a sneak peek before i put them up on my Etsy store!

My boyfriend is working on a fun logo and banner for me for my Etsy shop, i can't wait to see what he comes up with! I really want to revamp the look of my store and make it a lot more fun. I want it to really represent me and my personality. Right now, it is far from that!

Easter nails!

I know Easter is still far away but it's always nice having an excuse to do a themed manicure!

I have always been so jealous of all the beautiful flake polish i have seen around the blogging community, though i can never find any for myself! A lot of the ones i love are all brands that we don't carry in Canada, which really sucks. I decided since i can't find a nice flake polish, i would have to make my own.
I was wandering around Michaels a couple of months ago and came across a really weird looking glitter. It's made from cellophane and has a really great rainbow effect. Anyone remember that Rainbow Fish childrens book?? It reminds me a lot of the fish scales the main fish had!

All i did was add the glitter flakes to clear polish and apply it to my nails. I think the effect turned out really great, i added a top coat of seche vite hoping it would smooth it out a bit. It's still pretty rough feeling but i don't mind that at all. I used a pale grey polish by Love & Beauty for a base color for the glitter nails. All of the pastel colors are from Joe, which can be found at Superstore. The colors from left to right are Butter, Powder Blue, Kiss and Faded Violet.

What do you think of the cellophane glitter effect?

Tokidoki Gelato Balm and E.L.F Hypershine Gloss

I was in the city on Saturday and although my conscious was screaming "NO!!!!!!!!!!!" i went into Sephora anyways. I did really well, restrained myself from spending (being jobless will do that to ya) and only walked out with one item, which well, i didn't even pay for because my boyfriend treated me =)

I have been lusting after the Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stains for awhile now. Seriously, how cute is the packaging? I picked Donutella, it's a sheer deep pink and smells absolutely delicious. The balm itself is so smooth and the color lasts for quite awhile. I am such a big fan of lip stains/tints, they add such great color for those like me who look silly wearing lipstick. I will for sure be going back to buy the other three shades.
I apologize for the lighting of this swatch, it looks more like a curling iron burn than a lip product haha.

My swatch order is backwards from the picture on the left, oops!

I was in Zellers not to long ago and came across an E.L.F section in the cosmetic department. I have never seen this brand in stores here, all the racks were empty except for a lip gloss set. For $2.50, i figured why the heck not.

The set came with three colors, none of which had a name. All three have a very lovely smell and great shine. The formula is not sticky, which is a huge bonus. There is nothing worse than when a lipgloss is super sticky and your hair gets in it, then your hair is gooey. So annoying.

All the colors look really great on, they added a really soft tint and went really great with my skin color.

For those of you that have Facebook, i have decided to do a jewelry giveaway as soon as i reach 100 people! If you haven`t already, please go like my page and tell your friends!

Hard Candy: Eye Def & Baked Blush

I can't stress enough about how much i love this brand. All of the products i have tried are such great quality. They also do not test on animals, which is another great reason to be in love with their products.

I have been using a Hard Candy Baked Blusher for quite awhile now and i really love it. The color i am showing is called Living Doll, the formula is very light and easy to apply. It's a light pink color with flecks of gold. It is quite sheer so you can use it as a highlighter but it's also very easy to build into a darker shade. This shade goes perfect with my pale skin, it adds a really nice healthy glow to my skin.

Eye Def is a glitter cream eyeshadow. I believe there are seven or more different colors, i picked up Algae. The colors are very vivid and the glitter really lasts all day. Removal is also a breeze, soap and water take the product right off. I have been searching for a great glitter shadow that doesn't crease and go yucky instantly and this is it! I am for sure going to pick up some more colors, these really are great.

Does anyone else love Hard Candy? What are your favorite products?

My sister.

I am taking a break from my usual posts to dedicate one to my beautiful sister whom i love very much.
My sister is the blonde, the other two are her beautiful friends/roomates!
It seems cliche to say that your sibling is your best friend, but it really is true in my case. If i could hangout with her everyday i would. She is out of town for school and has been for the past 3 years. At least it's only an hour and a half drive, so we get to see each other at least once a month. She is almost done this year which means she moves back home in April. I am overly excited!!!

This girl has gone through so much but always has the biggest smile on her face no matter what. It's always so refreshing being around someone so positive. I have always looked up to her, even as an older sister. She is the type of person i strive to be everyday. I wish everyone could be as caring and beautiful inside and out, the world would be a better place, that's for sure!

First attempt at fake nails.

My sister Alyssa came home for the weekend and as usual she wanted her nails done. I had just relieved my order of fake nails in the mail that same day so we decided to try them out. I have never used/painted fake nails before so it was super weird at first. You have so much more control with your designs though, which is awesome. Painting with my left hand is quite a task and it usually looks like a toddler did the job.

I did not take the amount of time i would have liked on these as my sister was heading out to meet friends that night and wanted them on before she left. I was surprised at how well these fit onto her nails though. There is nothing worse than a little awkward gap. Gluing them on was pretty easy, minus the two times the nail flipped around and got stuck onto my finger. There was a lot of screaming involved ripping them off my skin. I didn't know nail glue dried that fast, i had only touched the wet glue for maybe a second!

I have seen quite a few people selling decorated fake nails on Etsy. Are a lot of people interested in that sort of thing?  Would you ever purchase and wear them?

I have been collecting quite a few goodies this past week for a little April giveaway! I am really excited to do my first one, i love giveaways because everyone has a chance to win products that you may not be able to find in your own country. Plus i really love meeting new people =)

A well needed LUSH evening.

I always love Christina Marie's posts about her LUSH experiences so i thought i would do one of my own!

I have really sore muscles right now so i thought a bath would be a perfect way to relax and soothe my poor body. I have a box full of LUSH goodies so i closed my eyes and picked a random bath bomb to use.

I think the one i picked is called Think Pink. I could be wrong, i had to Google the name as i have no clue what it's called. Please correct me if i am wrong!
The bomb itself smelled delicious. It had a candy and flowery smell, it reminded me of cotton candy and strawberries. I wish i could have captured the scent and shared it with everyone.

When i placed the bomb into the tub it instantly turned the water a lovely pink color. There were a lot of chunks floating around which at first i thought were undissolved bath bomb pieces but after a closer look i realized it was multi colored heart confetti! I thought that was a super cute touch, i love the little surprises LUSH has in their products.

One of our cats Friday can't resist water so she was also apart of it all!
Overall this bath bomb was a really fun experience. I loved the little hearts, the color of the water and the initial smell. The only complaint i have is that as soon as all the pieces were dissolved, i did not smell anything afterwards. This is always a disappointment for me as I love products that have a strong smell that lingers and stays on your skin well after you are done. That did not happen here. My skin did feel pretty soft afterward though!

After the bath i decided to use another LUSH product i have not tried. They are called Token to the Forest God. They are little tablets that you put in hot water, drape a towel over your head and then let the steam surround your face. I am very exhausted so i thought this would be a perfect time to use it.
LUSH claims this product is supposed to make your skin feel refreshed and hydrated.
The product had a really unique smell, it reminded me of a forest and citrus. When i towel dried my face afterward, i touched my skin and it did feel hydrated. It also could have just been the steam but i think it did add a little extra.
On the LUSH website they state that you can put the leftover water in a spray bottle and leave it in your fridge and use it as a spritz/toner for up to two days. I didn't have a bottle to try this which i really regret!

St Patricks Manicure.

Happy St Patricks day everyone! I don't celebrate this holiday but any excuse to do a themed manicure is ok in my books haha. I finally had an excuse to use the Party of Five polish i got a few weeks ago.

Please excuse my wrinkly hands, they are a curse! They make me look like i am at least 80 years old.

I had an interview yesterday, now playing the waiting game. I hate that so much! I kept myself busy making earrings. Got about 30 pairs done! I also opened an Etsy shop finally, i will start listing items on it tomorrow. I had to figure out postage rates before i could do anything, what a damn pain that whole system is.

Dollarstore eyeshadows are the best.

Not even kidding, i love them so much. They are always SO pigmented and stay on all day. Every dollar store shadow i have bought is always very creamy too, which aids in awesome application.

Here are the two palettes i picked up the other day at Dollarama. I did a couple swatches so you can see how pigmented they are. Each one is very shimmery and all of the colors really suit each other. I am going to have a lot of fun playing around with them all!

Has anyone else tried Dollarstore makeup? Any treasures?

Also just for fun, my newest creations! I think i may start up an Etsy store, i have heard a lot of great things about using them to sell your products. I could spend all day on that website, i don't think my bank account would like that though.

Ladies, i need your opinions!

I have been working like a mad woman coming up with some new earring designs and i need your help! I am having a hard time narrowing down which ones to go ahead with, so i have been asking friends and strangers to tell me their favorite designs. All of the designs are so different from one another, so having multiple opinions from people with different tastes helps so much.

If you are interested in helping me out, please send me an email and i will send you all the designs i have on the go right now. kenzie.conrad@gmail.com

Thanks everyone!! <3

I've got the jewelry itch!

I decided to make jewelry again, i really have missed it. I have been working on a bunch of earrings and finally have them up for sale! I am also making rings, necklaces and hair accessories i just have not received all of my supplies yet. I am getting very anxious as i just want to get going on my projects!

Here are a few examples of what i have created these past few days.

Here is a link to an album i made on Facebook, check it out and let me know what you think! Any feedback is good feedback =) I made the album viewable to anyone, if you have Facebook feel free to add me as a friend!

Summer nails for my winter blues.

Hi everyone! I finally sat my butt down and did a quick mani last night before i headed out to a hockey game. I wanted something bright and colorful as i am very tired of winter.

I received some fimo fruit slices i ordered in the mail and i have been very excited to give them a try. They applied a lot easier than i thought they would. Sometimes when i take a quick glance at my hand i think the watermelon is a lady bug and the rest of my fingers are leaves. Maybe that will be a mani in the future!
I apologize for the state of my cuticles, i did not clean them before i took the picture. =(

I went to a Wal Mart near my friend Mandy's house and hit the mother load! I have been looking for the Wet n Wild Coloricon palettes everyone has been loving but i haven't been able to find any for the life of me. That all changed as I found two last night that i've been wanting, I'm Getting Sunburned and Don't Steal My Thunder. I think i may have done a little victory dance when i saw them, i hope no one was watching!

The colors are so shimmery and they are also very pigmented. You can enlarge the photo for better detail. Wet n Wild always surprises me with the amazing quality of their products, especially for how cheap they are.

I also picked up a Wet n Wild polish "Party of Five Glitters" and Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Check It Out. This is the first time i have seen the Salon Effects in a store in Canada so i was extremely excited when i saw the display case. I sure hope these work better than the ones i bought on eBay.

The Wet n Wild polish has five colors of glitter in different sizes. If you look at the full size image you will be able to see it closer. I can't wait to use it!

What goes up, must come down.

Hey everyone,

Sorry I have not posted in awhile, life has been pretty hectic and I have had no time to sit down. My poor mum fell off her horse on the weekend and broke her shoulder, so between that and returning from my trip to BC i have had no time to do anything.

I know i promised that water marble tutorial and i swear i will have it up as soon as i can!

Hope you're all doing well.

I'm baaaaaaaaaack.

Hi everyone, sorry it's been so long since my last post. I had a temporary job for a couple of weeks and i was super busy. Anytime i had a chance to sit down after work i would usually just fall asleep on the couch!

Today i went to Shoppers Drug Mart and picked up a few things. I had a bunch of points saved up so i thought i would go and see if there was anything i liked. I ended up using 60 of my points so all of this stuff cost me only $22.

I love Glysomed hand cream and i was running out so i went to grab another bottle and noticed that there was also a Life brand version. It was half the price so i grabbed one assuming it will do just as great of a job.

I have never used an eyelash curler before so i thought i would give it a try. I have pretty long natural lashes so i never thought i would need one but i thought i may as well give one a go since a lot of girls are in love with them.
I needed a new mascara and i used to be in love with the Covergirl LashBlast mascara so i thought i would give another one a try. I have been using Gosh wonder volume for almost  two years now and i love that mascara so much but i am a sucker for trying new things to see if i can out do my favorite products. So far that Gosh mascara has beaten anything i have ever tried in the past so we will see how this new mascara stands up to it.

They had a bunch of Gosh products in the clearance section so i picked up three of their loose shimmery eye powders for $3 each! I love this brand a lot, i use a ton of their products. The camera i am using does not like taking macro shots for some reason so i had a super hard time trying to take swatch photos. You will just have to take my word for it, all of these colors are super lovely!
Clockwise from the top - Spa, Paradise, Greeny.
Greeny looks black but its a very deep green with a little bit of gold.

I saw this blush in a magazine i was reading yesterday and i fell in love as soon as i saw how cute it was. It's called Happy Booster by Physicians Formula. I use a lot of their products as well as i have very sensitive skin. The blush is a lot brighter than the normal shades i wear but i still really like it. It is very shimmery and comes with a cute little brush but i find it applies the blush super weird and uneven so i will be sticking to using my normal brush when using this.
ALSO, there is a $6 mail in rebate with this product!

This is a Quo lip gloss stick in Pucker. I have never seen a lip gloss in the shape of a lipstick, super cute. I cannot wear full cover lipsticks as i think i end up looking absolutely ridiculous. I have super thin, almost non existent lips so i look like a clown. I do love tinted glosses though so i threw this in my basket as soon as i saw it.
Once again i wasn't able to take a swatch picture but it applies as a light pink glossy finish.

Awhile ago i saw people using Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail strips and i automatically fell in love with them. Nail art in the form of a sticker you just stick on your nail? Sounds too perfect! I searched for them all over the city but i don't think we carry them in Alberta yet, atleast not at any of the places i looked. I looked on eBay to see if i could find them but they were around $25+ each to ship to Canada! I ended up finding a different brand called Crazy Strips and ordered a houndstooth design to try.
I sure hope the Sally Hansen brand is 100% better than this piece of garbage. I would never recommend this brand to anyone, i think they are complete utter pieces of junk. Every sticker would crease when i applied them, leaving the design bumpy and ugly. If you enlarge the picture you should be able to see some creases, the picture made it look way better than it does in person. Also, unless you have perfect rounded nail beds these will not fit your nails either. You can see this problem in the picture of my thumb. There is huge gaps on both sides, which i then filled in with silver polish to help blend it. I put 3 coats of Seche Vite on each nail but it didn't help, as i am typing this right now i can see flaps of the stickers hanging off my nails. Gonna be taking these babies off and setting them on fire as soon as i am finished here. I am really disappointed (mostly the fact i spent $13 on these, ugh) as i think the design looks really awesome, hopefully another brand will work out a lot better than these did.

I am off to Vernon B.C until the 22nd so there will be no more posts until after that! I am going to be doing a water marbling tutorial next week as i got a lot of positive feedback on my previous post. I read that a lot of you had trouble with it and thought it was very messy so i would like to share my tips with all of you so you can all enjoy it as much as i do!

I am getting my hair cut tonight by my lovely friend Amanda, she is one of my all time favorite people. Not only is she an amazing hair stylist, she is also an amazing singer. Check out her YouTube channel here. You can also take a peep at her hair portfolio just for kicks. She travels across Canada a lot so if you like what you see, contact her!

Also only because he is the love of my life, check out my boyfriends YouTube channel here. If you like graffiti you will enjoy it, and if you don't, you will enjoy it anyways because i said so! =)

Have a GREAT weekend everyone! <3

Ladies night.

Last night i was hanging out with my family and my sister and mum asked me to paint their nails. Here is the outcome!

My mum really wanted water marbling done and the outcome turned out pretty swell. Every time she pulled her fingers out of the water there were always a lot of OHHHH's and AWWWWWW's. I like water marbling because it's a surprise everytime!
My sister wanted pink and glitter. I did a slight pink gradient and added a bunch of loose round glitter to the tips.

I am keeping this post short as i have to run and meet my sister to pick up her new car. She was in a horrible accident a few weeks ago where she flipped and totaled her car. I still can't believe she walked away with only a bump on her head and a few bruises.

Curly woes.

I thought i would do a post about the hair products i use and love. I have frizzy curly hair that i have spent years trying to manage. I could not get my curls to look nice for the life of me, so i always relied on my straightener. This did not help my frizz problem at all, as all heat styling tools damage your hair over time. I dye my hair a lot too, which does not help at all. I have tried countless amounts of curl enhancing products but the majority of them just left my hair feeling greasy and heavy. I am very low maintenance with my hair and it has always been my dream that i could one day shower and leave my house with my hair wet, knowing that i won't end up looking like a poodle that licked an electrical socket by the time my hair dries.
Anyone with annoying curly hair knows how frustrating your hair can be but i have finally found a solution that has tamed the wild beast!

I am always on the hunt for a good shampoo that helps keep your hair color vibrant and shiny. Again, most of the products i have used were really heavy on my hair. When my hair was dry it felt like someone dumped a bucket of Brylcreem on my head, which is cool if i was Ponyboy.
I was interested in trying out some of Lush's hair care products as i love everything else they offer. I asked a sales clerk to recommend which shampoo and conditioner would work best with my colored hair and she recommended Daddy-o and Coolaulin. Daddy-o is a violet based shampoo which is good for keeping blonde hair from getting that brassy look but she said it would work well on all colors. This shampoo is SUPER light on my hair, you only have to use a little amount and it smells so good. It also makes my hair super shiny even when my hair color starts to fade over time. Coolaulin is a very light conditioner, i am not in love with the smell but it works pretty well. To me it smells like a Pina Colada that's had dirt mixed into it, yummy. My hair is always super soft after wards though. I would like to try another one of their conditioners to compare results.

These next two products have saved my uncontrollable hair. After i towel dry my hair i apply both of these products and they have done wonders for me. I was recommended to use Redken Ringlet 07 by my sisters friend who works at Chatters. It is a curl enhancer that actually works. I still can't believe i found a product that does what it says. I only use about half a pump, let my hair air dry and i get perfect soft curls. No frizz, no afro, just curls. I love it. On top of that i add a tiny amount of Biosilk Silk Therapy, it adds a ton of shine to my hair and also makes my hair super soft.

And that's it! I finally have hair i can leave naturally curly without looking like i belong in an 80's rock band.

Has anyone else used any of Lush's hair care products? Which have you liked/disliked?
